Sofia : Starting Solids

A few days ago, we were finally given the go-signal by her pediatrician to start on semi-solids. I was really excited about it because it meant using the Beaba (the baby foodmaker) again, experimenting on fruits and vegetables and ofcourse discovering and developing Sofia's tastebuds this early by mix-and-matching different things. Grandma Jo sent us some organic cereals and fruits too!

On her first day, we tried the cereal for her AM snack and Papaya for her PM snack. Similar to what I practiced with Henri, I will implement the "4-Day Wait Rule". This means I feed the same food for 4 Days straight to make be able to identify if she's allergic to something.

Sofia is 6 Months :)

It was Sofia's 6th-month birthday yesterday... geez! Those months flew by real fast! This is how our day went...

I had to work and go to Cintai  so I brought the birthday girl along with me all the way to Batangas. We arrived around 5 pm and I just went straight to the grocery to buy some ingredients. With the help of my super girls (our cook Dovie and Ate Hilda), we whipped up a no-frills Mexican Dinner here at home. They're the easiest things to make and prepare. I just made tacos and fajitas for everyone while dada opened the special Tequila bottle given as a gift by Fernand (who happens to be Sofia's Ninong).

Taco Condiments (apple cider sauce, meat and shells - not in picture)

Fajitas! For those interested, this is my uber simple recipe:
Tried and Tested Marinade ( Steak ) :
chopped garlic, cumin, chopped cilantro leaves and stem, lime juice and salt
On the side, you have bell peppers and onions :) Wrap the steak and veggies on a warm soft tortilla with salsa and sour cream and you're good to go! Vamos a comer!

Ay! Caramba! The extra special tequila!

Book Review : Hands Are Not For Hitting

Teaching toddlers about the concept of violence and how they are not suppose to hit others when they get frustrated can be very challenging. I have been trying to teach my son (who just entered the Terrible 2's stage) about this for a few months now. I ordered this book online and I believe it is a very good and effective tool which parents can use to help their child manage anger at an young age.

The book helps young children understand that violence is never okay and that they can manage their strong feelings (anger) and channel it to different things instead. It reiterates that each one is capable of positive, loving actions.

At an early age, especially when they are interacting with other kids, they need to understand that hitting is unacceptable. In this book, Wwrds tell- and the pictures show- the many wonderful things the hands can do instead of hitting.

"Hands are not for hitting...Hands are for...saying hello, playing, creating, helping, working, learning, encouraging...

Henri with the book... and his new Pororo training chopsticks! :)

I highly recommend you add this to your child's library :)
